Shima`s Sushi in Saint Charles

The variety of the menu is astounding. The freshness of the fish is great;the salmon melts in your mouth. The gyoza is okay, it was a little more crunchy than I cared for. The takoyaki is delicious. The food is made quickly and is super hot. We got a free dessert with a strawberry topping with a brownie. The richness of the brownie was very good and balanced out the tartness of the strawberry. The reason for the 4 out of 5 stars was the service. The service was slower and not at the bar one would expect for a sushi place. The one server was very new, and tonight was swamped so I can't blame them, but there were times we were just sitting for 10 to 20 minutes trying to get the servers attention. I'm sure it'll get better over time; we plan on coming back out in 6 months time to see how it goes. The tea is delicious! The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is lovely- casual and eclectic yet very driven towards one theme.

We totally wanted to love this place but the service is just brutal. We’ve been here 3x and ordered take out a couple times too, take out with an hour notice is never ready and we’ve waited for a hour plus every time while dining in to eat with zero waitress communication. Too bad because the sushi is pretty good.

The sushi is good but the service was so slow. Took 1 1/2 hours to get the first rolls and over 30 minutes to get the rest. We were a party of four and only ordered 7 rolls. Our server did not seem to care. The place was only 50% full so I don't know what was happening... We will not likely return.

This is the BEST sushi place in St Charles area. Love you guys :)

We love hanging out. Last night we went to this excellent place which we didn’t know before. We spent a lovely time there with great meal and a well-trained team and a talented cuisine. We added this fine restaurant in our list and we will definitely return very soon. We warmly recommend.

You will find authentic Japanese food here, chirashi is very good, five star recommend!

We love this place. Be sure to try the Christine tower appetizer...best thing on the menu. I have visited many times. Sushi is great, soups flavorful and delicious.

I love this place very much. It has a different air. The kitcen is superb. the service is dynamic and the personel is professional. The cost is honest. I definitely recommend.

Certain things are truly incredible. A few things are eh... Depending on who you have, service is either terrible or amazing. I highly suggest the green dragon roll..

The food is to die for. My son who is living in Japan can't wait to get back & eat there.Only problem is slow & bad service. Every single time!!! We live close by and have visited over 15 times....never had good service!!!It is expensive to eat there, but worth it for the quality of food.

Great service, good prices and delicious food! I love the burrito roll, mochi and deep fried oreos. They have picture menus too which is super helpful when ordering and I never feel like I have to wait too long for my food which is nice because I come here often on my lunch breaks.

Absolutely delicious!! If you don't like wasabi, BE SURE TO SPECIFY NO WASABI IN THE SUSHI AND (POSSIBLY) SASHIMI pieces. All my nigiri sushi had wasabi between the rice and the fish, and wasabi is the worst. I addressed the issue with the waitress and they swapped everything out, no problem. The prices were reasonable, the service was excellent. I know my group was really loud and obnoxious. (Sorry everyone else!)
